EMPLOYMENT, including APPRAISALS, EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES, ETC. The Employment Rights Act places a duty on employers to provide their employees with certain information concerning their employment, for example details of their contacts of employment such as the date the employment began, hours of work and remuneration etc. and oblige employers to ensure that their employees are not subject to unauthorised deductions from their wages. The provision of employee information can be combined with a period of induction at the commencement of employment. Employers are required to maintain accurate records of any information obtained in respect of their employees. The Equal Opportunities Commission and Commission for Racial Equality advise employers to eliminate discrimination and provide equal opportunities for their employees. In addition, to ensure employees are meeting performance objectives and to improve communication between the employer and employee, employers are advised to have in place an appraisal scheme. |
